Selective Coloring Tutorial

In this easy tutorial I will show you how to selective color a photo in Gimp. If an image is too small in this tutorial simply click on the image to enlarge it.


Step One:
Open the image you would like to use. Then go to Layer>Duplicate layer. Here is the image I am using:


Step Two:
Then go to colors>desaturate and select average. Now, over in your layers tool box right click on the top layer and select add layer mask. Make sure white full opacity is selected.

Step Three:
Now grab your paint brush tool and select a fuzzy brush and make sure black is selected as your foreground color then start painting over the part you want to be in color.

Step Four:
After you're done go over to your layers toolbox and right click on the top layer and select flatten image. You're done! Here is my final image:
